How is the 3-phase relay useful for you?

1
Lower electricity bill without sacrificing comfort.

The 3-phase DIN relay shifts major consumers, such as an EV charger or a hot water boiler, to cheaper hours. You still get the same warm home and a charged car, but pay less for electricity.

2
No need to live by the electricity clock anymore.

You don’t have to track electricity prices yourself or think about when to turn on a boiler or other devices. The 3-phase DIN relay does it for you and automatically schedules operation to cheaper hours.

3
Clear overview of your consumption and savings.

The app shows when the device was working, how much electricity it consumed, and how much you've saved financially. The vague "electricity is expensive" becomes a concrete number you can see and understand.

4
One-time purchase, long-term win

You only pay for the relay once—there's no monthly fee. Once it has paid itself back on your electricity bill, every next saving is pure gain.

How does the 3-phase relay work?

Installation based on your skills

The 3-phase DIN relay is installed in the electrical panel and requires electrical work competence. If you’re comfortable with electrical installations, you can install it yourself. If you prefer a professional, our partner electrician can come on-site and install the 3-phase DIN relay for the device you want to control.

Set main settings

In the app, you specify which device you’re controlling and when you need a charged car, a warm floor, or a warm floor. Choose an energy mode (economy, balanced, comfort, or advanced settings) and the app optimizes the rest for you.

Turn on automation

The 3-phase DIN relay tracks spot prices and switches the device on during cheaper hours, keeping it off during expensive hours. If you want more control, you can disable automation and switch the device on and off yourself in manual mode.

Track results

Track savings and consumption in real-time and see how your investment pays off.

FEEDBACK

What our customers say

Everything went quickly with Volton. Installation was simple, and the system works so I don't have to switch devices on and off myself. The house is warm, the app gives a clear overview of where energy is going, and electricity bills are about a third smaller than before. Currently, ten devices are connected to Volton, and I'm really glad that such young people have made this solution ready. I definitely recommend it.

Everything you need to know about the 3-phase relay

Where can I use a 3-phase DIN relay?

The 3-phase DIN relay is suitable for controlling higher-power devices that are connected directly to the electrical panel and run on three-phase power. For example:
• an EV charger
• a higher-power hot water boiler
• panel-controlled underfloor heating (larger areas or multiple heating circuits)
• other large electricity consumers that have their own circuit breaker in the panel

If you’re not sure whether your device is suitable for a 3-phase DIN relay or needs a different solution, let us know and we’ll help you choose the right options.

How to install a 3-phase DIN relay?

Volton’s 3-phase DIN smart relay is designed to be installed directly in an electrical panel on a DIN rail. Due to the higher power and safety requirements, installation must be performed by a certified electrician. The kit includes a smart controller with power metering and 3 current transformers.

Installation notes:
• fits standard DIN rails
• requires connecting neutral and three phase conductors
• setup is done after installation in the Volton app

Volton has partner electricians in every county in Estonia. If you don’t have an electrician, see our partner list here and contact them directly, mentioning you want to install a Volton 3-phase DIN smart relay.

Installation usually costs €50–€150.

If you’re not sure whether you should install the DIN relay yourself, we strongly recommend using an experienced electrician so the work is safe and the device works as intended.

How to reset the 3-phase DIN relay to factory settings?

To restore the DIN relay to factory settings:
1. Press and hold the button on the DIN relay for about one minute.
2. When you hear an audible signal and the indicator light starts blinking, the relay has been successfully reset to factory settings.

How to connect the 3-phase DIN relay to the app?

The easiest way is to start with the tutorial video:
https://youtu.be/iX05yIJZQbU

Use the same tutorial video — the in-app pairing flow is exactly the same for all Volton devices, including the 3-phase DIN relay.

If you've lost the paper setup guide with the device code, you can always download the same guide again as a PDF here.

What happens if the controlled device is more powerful than 17 kW?

If the controlled device's power exceeds 17 kW, a 3-phase DIN relay is used together with a contactor – the relay controls the contactor and the contactor safely switches the large load on and off.
